·       Round 1.  First chemotherapy treatment.  Protocol being followed is that for Ewing’s sarcoma.  The following drugs received:

·       CT scans performed at DHMC in Lebanon, NH.  Very distressing news.  Tumors still growing.  Devastating news.

Nov 21, Tues

·       Emergency Room visit at SNHMC.  CT Scan shows internal bleeding.  Emergency room doctor Dr. Burke says he could die any time.  Dr. Howe looks at CT Scans.  Says go to DHMC.

·       Taken by ambulance to DHMC.  Stabilized.  On Wed, Nov 22nd, given one bag of blood.  Sent home by ambulance.

·       Home Hospice nurse takes blood sample.  HBG is at 9.4 showing improvement from last Wednesday, Nov 22nd, when it was 8.0 before transfusion.

·       Blood drawn for lab work.  HGB 8.8

·       Late afternoon appointment with Dr. O’Shea at clinic.

·       Blood drawn for lab work.  All counts same or better than Dec 4th.  HGB higher.

·       Appointment in morning with Dr. O’Shea

·       Round 10.  Chemo started up again.  First infusion of Gemzar (gemcitabine)

·       Appointment in morning with Dr. O’Shea

·       Blood drawn for lab work (Chemistry tests show liver is struggling.  Ammonia at 62, double the normal amount)

·       Round 11.  Second infusion of Gemzar (gemcitabine)

·       Platelet count at 48,000 is too low to have chemo.  Must take a week off.

·       Round 14.  Fifth infusion of Gemzar (gemcitabine)

·       CT Scan performed at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.  Scan shows the tumors have not stopped growing.  Very little liver left.  Stanford isn’t going to make it.

Jan 23, 2007 Tues

·       Hospice Nurse Ilona came for her weekly visit.  The change in condition is very dramatic.  Decision made to transfer Stanford by ambulance to Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

·       Stanford Mark Larsen passed away surrounded by his family and several friends at 8:38 PM.
