Eighteen. So full of life, vibrant, the journey begins. Bad news, a tear falls, not all is lost. The fighters keep fighting, the world keeps on spinning, there's still life to be living. He had his whole life ahead of him, they whisper in hushed tones, sitting in a hospital room. Choked with grief, they forget, he's still there, and his life is waiting. Smiling, inspiring, perservering. People change with trauma, he's still the same. He gives his hope to others, his smile strengthens more of them still. But he still keeps some hope for himself, and his light shines like a beacon in the night. Nothing will take that fighting spirit away, and even when the world is gone, Stan's exuberant soul will still live on. Corrie Masson November 2006 Student at Nashua High School South |
